# Recurrent Self-Improvement: Dynamic Cross-Loop On-Policy Distillation for Looped Language Models

Authors: Yi Wang, Rui Qian, Yu Li, Haoyang Yao, Wenjie Wang.

Trains an intermediate loop using a deeper loop of the same language model as its teacher on student-generated outputs. A dynamic variant refreshes the teacher during training, turning additional recurrent computation into a source of supervision.

## Approaches

- [Recurrent reasoning](https://latent-implicit-thinking.github.io/topics/recurrent-reasoning/): Repeat parts of the model or keep intermediate information in memory while working through a problem. Some methods also learn how many passes to run.
